25-year-old Amber Kohnhorst recently traveled to Utah to donate her time at the Best Friends Animal Society.

According to her GoFundMe page, Amber was out on a hike last Friday when she fell nearly 100 feet. "She fractured her back in three places, crushed her pelvis, broke her nose, and sustained multiple other injuries. After lying in the open for more than 24 hours without food, water, or cell service she was rescued from a cliff Saturday night and evacuated to Intermountain Healthcare in St George, UT."

At last check, a back brace had arrived, giving her the support she needs for her fractured back. Yesterday she was transferred to a chair for the first time since her accident.

Amber is a nurse in the Cardiovascular Surgical ICU at Mayo Clinic. It's anticipated that it will take several months before she'll be able to return to work.
