If you don't know what Neurofibromatosis (NF) is, that's ok, I didn't either until a few weeks ago.  It's a genetic disorder that causes growths or tumors to form on nerves anywhere in the body, including the brain, the spinal cord, and on the skin.  There are at least 125,000 people with NF in the United States and one in every 3,000 babies born has NF.

The inspiration for this fundraising mission is Gus Erickson, a 4-year old Rochester native, who was diagnosed with NF1 as a baby. Last summer, an MRI scan revealed a life-threatening tumor in Gus' brain and he underwent immediate surgery to debulk the lesion at Mayo Clinic.

There is no cure for NF, no known treatments, and no way of predicting the path NF will take in any one, affected individual but several promising research studies are currently underway and on the horizon; however, NF research continues to be grossly underfunded. That's where you come in!!!  100% of proceeds raised at this event will be donated to the NF Network's advocacy & research initiatives and The NF Team's Swine Project at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, in its endeavor to find a cure.  Please join us tonight!
