MASON CITY, Iowa (AP) — A man narrowly escaped injury when part of a Wal-Mart store's roof collapsed in northern Iowa.

The Mason City Globe Gazette reports that the collapse happened during a heavy rainstorm around 8 a.m. Saturday. Firefighters also had to deal with a gas leak when the roof collapsed.

Authorities say a man who was working outside the rear of the building had to dive under a trailer to escape injury, and was helped out by firefighters. The Mason City Fire Department says no other injuries were reported.

The store was evacuated and closed. Damage estimates weren't immediately available.
