The Rochester Police Department is investigating the death of a man who was found unresponsive at Silver Lake Park earlier this week - and for now, is treating the case as suspicious. The man - 54 year old Roger Ingalls - was found on the grass near the ball field on the east side of the park around 7:30 Monday morning. Ingalls died later that day at St. Mary’s. The Medical Examiner has determined he may not have died from natural causes and more tests are being conducted.

The Police Department has learned Ingalls was seen at 7:30 Sunday evening in the area of River Center in the 1600 block of North Broadway Ave. He was riding a black bicycle and said he was heading home at that time. A bicycle located at Jefferson Elementary School the next day appears to be the one that Ingalls was riding Sunday.

The Police Department is asking the public’s help in learning what happened to Ingalls during the 12 hour period between Sunday evening and the next morning when he was found.

The department is trying to contact people who remember seeing anyone riding a bicycle in this area that may have crashed, been hit by a car, fell off a bicycle or was involved in an assault.

Anyone having information about this case is asked to contact Investigator Beery at 507-328-6926, or the Police Department Dispatch Center at 507-328-6800.

Anonymous tips can be provided by contacting Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or rochesterolmstedcrimestoppers.org.
