Last year the "Drink Beer Save Lakes" campaign raised over $80,000. That money was used by Conservation Minnesota to reduce pollution in lakes among other things. This year's goal is to raise $100,000 and you can help by simply enjoying a cold beer.

Here are the two ways you can help Coors Light and Conservation Minnesota save our lakes:

  1. Follow @COORSLIGHT on Twitter and tweet them pictures using #BEERSAVESLAKES. For every Tweet they get, they give $1 to Conservation Minnesota.
  2. Buy and enjoy beer. Coors Light will make a donation when you purchase their beer at participating Minnesota retailers this summer. See T&C for details

Coors Light posted this year's goals on the campaign's website, they are:

  1. Protecting the lakes, rivers, and streams against pollution
There are over 11,000 lakes, 69,000 miles of rivers and streams, and 13 million acres of surface water in our state. Only 15% of Minnesota’s lakes and streams have been tested for pollution – of those, 40% are polluted.
  2. Combating the spread of Aquatic Invasive Species
Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) have spread to an alarming number of Minnesota’s lakes and rivers.
  3. Protecting Minnesota’s drinking water is the most important issue facing water in Minnesota.
Overuse, pollution, and waste are now threatening the drinking water supply that many communities rely on.

Pretty easy and fun way to save our lakes, huh?

Have fun. Be safe.
