Winter is right around the corner and with the snow comes snow days at least for a little while longer.

In an attempt to keep kids from falling behind many schools across the country are opting for e-classes instead of traditional snow days.

Dan Domenech the executive director of the American Association of School Administrators told USA Today that he sees potential in technology, "Learning will eventually be able to take place anywhere — not just inside a school building."

The program allows teachers to post lectures, videos and assignments to be completed at home by the student. Students with questions can instant message their instructor for answers.

School officials like the idea of e-learning days because it counts toward their class-time requirements set by the state. Schools who opt for this method don't have to make up days at the end of the year.
