Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man is lucky he wasn’t hurt or killed Monday night as his vehicle was hit by several bullets in a northwest neighborhood.

A police spokesman says the man had parked in front of a residence in the 2700 block of 56th Street Northwest near the McDonald’s restaurant around 9:45 p.m. The victim says he saw a  man standing near a tree suddenly open fire and the passenger's side of his SUV was hit by several bullets. The 36-year-old ducked under his steering wheel until the firing stopped. He says he saw the man who fired the shots run to a nearby car and drive away.

Officers later discovered a nearby fourplex was hit by at least two bullets. A parked vehicle was also hit. A spokesman says at least 16 shots were fired. There is no known motive for the shooting.
