Shooting Investigation Leads to Drug Conviction
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A 35-year-old Rochester man has pleaded guilty to a felony drug charge in a criminal case connected to a shooting in downtown Rochester in May.
Calvin Dixon admitted Thursday to a 5th degree charge for possession of marijuana and will be sentenced on November 23rd. Two felony terroristic threats charges were dismissed through the plea agreement.
Dixon was arrested after police were called to the Center Street Hotel near the Mayo Civic Center the night of May 15th after a man who had been shot in the leg was brought to St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment. Bullet holes were later found in two rooms at the hotel and in a window in the First Street Parking Ramp. Over a dozen spent shell casings were recovered at the scene, but police did not recover any guns.
Investigators indicated they believed the gunfire stemmed from an ongoing dispute between the victim and Dixon over a girlfriend.
