Over the past decade, it seems like more and more airlines are somehow getting even cheaper when it comes to in-flight service. Does anyone remember the days when you'd get free food and drinks while flying? Now you're lucky if you get a small bag of pretzels on the house. Don't get me started on the baggage fees, crammed seating, or how certain airlines (*cough*Spirit*cough*) are even giving tacky in-flight sales pitches to hock their own credit cards. So what's why I'm a bit perturbed at something airlines are starting to introduce: the guilt trip.

According to Thrillist, Frontier Airlines (which flies out of the Twin Cities) is has had a tipping option on its flights for the past three years. If you buy something off the food or drink cart, the payment tablet has a tipping option. And unless you're ordering a fancy, elaborate cocktail off the drink menu, I think that's pretty lame.

Look, I get that being a flight attendant can be a challenging and sometimes exhausting profession. If you've ever flown before, you know that they have to put up with a lot of rude, awful people. But here's a crazy idea; maybe airlines should just pay their flight attendants higher wages instead of trying to milk even more money from its customers? Come on, man.

What do you think? Am I just being a grump curmudgeon, or do you wish we could go back to the days when the only thing you had to pay for was a plane ticket? Feel free to leave a comment below or on our Facebook page!
