Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Seasonal factors likely contributed to a small increase in unemployment in the Rochester area in March.

The latest jobs report from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development shows the jobless rate for Olmsted County rose a tenth of a point last month to 3.8-percent. The rate for March of last year was 4.3-percent.

Despite the slight increase, the local unemployment rate was the lowest it has been for the month of March since 2001.

Winona County reported the lowest jobless rate in the region last month at 3.7-percent, while Fillmore County had the highest rate at 5.9-percent.
