Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - An attempted emergency landing on a road in Dodge County Friday morning ended with a small plane coming to rest on its roof on the roadway.

Dodge County Sheriff Scott Rose says deputies responded to a stretch of County Road 9 near Dodge Center around 11 AM and found the occupants of the upside down aircraft climbing out of the wrecked plane. The two passengers were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the pilot was not hurt.

The pilot told the deputies at the scene that the plane developed engine problems and it stalled as he was attempting to reach the Dodge Center Airport, forcing him to attempt the emergency landing on the highway.

Sheriff Rose says the plane and the passengers are from another state. Their names have not been released.

Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration have been dispatched to the scene to investigate the incident.
