My wife and I were planning to go canoeing on Saturday but the forecast called for rain so we called an audible and took a road trip.  My wife, who is 31 weeks pregnant, was excited to sample appetizers all day while I sampled beverages.  From Rochester we headed north with no real destination in mind. Our first stop was Kim's Saloon in Plainview.  We got the Cheesy Potato Bites - they were really good!

From there we headed to "Yahooligans" in Kellogg.  My wife's craving for cheese and potatoes apparently wasn't satisfied - we had the Cheesy Fries.

Lake City was our next stop - we played darts at Port 104.

In the process of kicking my butt at darts she worked up a bit of a craving for something sweet.   We crossed the river and headed to Nelson, WI, for a strawberry shake.  In Nelson we stopped at this place too.

They had slot machines inside - I played and won, but they have a rule that you have to come back the next day to claim your winnings. (I wonder if that's just something they tell out-of-towners?)

It was dinner time so we searched restaurants nearby on our GPS and found "The Stone Barn."  It's a really cool place located on a farm a couple miles outside of Nelson.

The pizza and the atmosphere were great!  This place is definitely worth the road trip.

We finished off our road trip in Alma, WI, at The Red Ram Saloon and then headed back to Rochester.

We love road trippin' and are always looking for new places to visit.  What's your favorite small town bar or restaurant?
