Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Rochester received its first real snowfall of the season Friday.

While measurements in the city were little more than a dusting, the National Weather Service station at the airport recorded 1.2 inches. Between 2 - 3 inches fell across parts of Fillmore and Mower counties.  

The heaviest snow fell in Iowa, where the National Weather Service reported 17 inches of snow in northwest Iowa in an area south of Luverne, while 13 inches was reported near Mason City and many other communities in northeastern Iowa had snowfall totals in the 8 to 10 inch range.

It will be a cold weekend in the Rochester area with temperatures remaining below freezing. Warmer air will move into the region Monday with highs in the 40’s expected through Thanksgiving Day.
