Where Is All That Snow?

For  the last few days, weather forecasters were predicting 2-4 inches of snow for southeast Minnesota, northeast Iowa and southwest Wisconsin.  It was expected to begin sometime Saturday night, remember?

Well, a quick look out the window Sunday morning showed the same snow that was on the ground when we hit the hay Saturday night. Most areas that did receive new snow are reporting totals that barely register.

So what happened?

The National Weather Service office in La Crosse, Wisconsin is offering an explanation that essentially says the snow-producing system moved to the west and pretty much missed the entire region. And, the agency says "This winter is proving to be a challenge for forecasting snow. " Read more here.

The NWS is sticking with its forecast of a return to more " normal " temperatures by the end of this week and continuing into the first week of February.
