Forrest Fenn, 84, of Santa Fe, New Mexico is a best selling author who buried a treasure chest with $2 million worth of gold and jewels in it back in 2010. Wondering why he would do that? In a recent interview he said, "Mostly my motive was to get kids off the couch and away from their texting machines and out in the mountains."

Texting machines?!? That's adorable!

So Forrest might be a little of touch when it comes to technology but he's a brilliant marketer. His memoir is called "The Thrill of the Chase" and you have to buy it in order to get clues to find the treasure. The book is a best-seller.

As of now no one has found it.  It's estimated that roughly 30,000 people have searched for it with some getting within 200 feet of the treasure.

From time to time he does drop other clues like saying the treasure is 5,000 feet above sea level in the Rocky Mountains and that the treasure chest is wet.
