Southern Minnesota Auto Dealership Robbed & Set on Fire
Last night an Albert Lea auto dealership, Mason Auto Sales, was robbed and allegedly set on fire.
After a couple, who was out shopping for a new car, called about a fire, the Freeborn County Sheriff's Office was notified. This happened at about 4:20PM yesterday.
When officers got there, there was smoke coming from the roof. Thankfully, the woman who lives above the auto dealership was not home at the time. 2 cars and a small black safe were stolen. The fire is being investigated as arson.
The safe contained about 80 vehicle titles and the two cars stolen were:
a green, 2008 Mercury Mountaineer, plate number 230WLR
and a blue, 2002 Dodge Ram, plate number is unknown.
The deputy that responded to the call found "three sets of keys in the parking lot about 50 feet from the door, and a side window to the building was smashed."
No one was injured during the robbery or in the fire. There are no suspects at this time.
