St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - Governor Mark Dayton and top legislative leaders emerged from a meeting this morning and indicated their goal is to call state lawmakers back to St. Paul the third week of August for a special session.

House Speaker Kurt Daudt, Senate Majority Leader Tom Bakk, and the governor indicated they have agreements, in principle, on the agenda for a special session but have not finalized many of the specific details concerning a bonding package and a tax bill that would fix a glitch in the measure that was approved during the regular legislative session. Daudt said there seems to be a general agreement to keep the bonding bill under $1 billion.

Governor Dayton called it a good meeting and celebrated what he termed the “cooperative spirit” of the parties involved. He also said hes is “more hopeful than he had been previously of the prospects for a special session.”
