Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) -  An updated enrollment projection report that will be presented to the Rochester School Board Tuesday evening predicts the number of students attending class in the Rochester School District will continue to steadily increase over the next five years.

The overall student headcount is expected to increase by about 230 students this fall and rise to nearly 18,000 by the fall of 2018. By the fall of 2020, the number of students enrolled in the Rochester School District is projected to be almost 850 higher than the headcount from last October at just under 18,300. That’s slightly below the growth experienced by the school district or the past five years, which has seen enrollment increase by a little over 1000 students.

The report also indicates enrollment bubble that has boosted elementary school enrollment by about 600 students over the past five years will be moving into the high school grades over the next five years, causing enrollment in grades 9-12 to jump by over 400 students by the fall of 2020.
