Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Stewartville man who was sent to prison several years ago for an alcohol-related deadly traffic wreck has been sentenced for another DUI conviction.

Sentenced Monday was 31-year-old Derek Bussell, who was arrested in June after being caught driving with a blood/alcohol level of .16.

Bussell was sentenced in 2012 to 5 ½ years in prison for the fatal wreck. It happened in October 2011 when he lost control of his car and it rolled several times in rural Rochester. He was driving at over 100-miles per hour when the wreck occurred. His passenger, 29-year-old Justin Robertson of Hayfield, died from his injuries. Bussell's blood-alcohol-concentration was tested at .23 after the wreck.

He had two earlier DUI convictions on his record.

For his latest conviction, Bussell was given a stayed 4-year prison sentence and placed on probation for 7 years. He has also been sentenced to 6 months in jail, beginning this year. The judge also sentenced him to 30 days in jail during each of the next 6 years.
