Do you want to support local Veterans? They give so much to our country and there are ways you can help. Here's a way you can help:

The VFW Post 1215  mission is "to foster camaraderie among United States veterans of overseas conflicts. To serve our veterans, the military, and our communities. To advocate on behalf of all veterans. OUR VISION: Ensure that veterans are respected for their service, always receive their earned entitlements, and are recognized for the sacrifices they and their loved ones have made on behalf of this great country."

And they're doing just that by organizing a Buddy Poppy benefit to help local Veterans.

The money raised for Veteran Relief Fund will go to the VFW Post 1215 Veteran Relief Fund. That fund is used to provide financial relief to local veterans, active duty, and immediate family. If they find themselves unable to pay their rent/mortgage, car repair, appliance breakdown, food, or any other financial burden this fund helps distressed veterans in their time of need.

Zachary Gore has been an active member of the VFW Post 1215 for eleven years and has had to rely on assistance through this fund himself. Volunteers will be handing out red Buddy Poppy flowers at various locations this weekend (May 19-22) at local Hy-vee and Cub Foods stores. If you cannot donate at these locations, Gore has provided the GoFundme site.  The money raised during poppy distribution also goes to the Veteran Relief Fund. Please help support our local veterans organization and all veterans and service members.
