Minneapolis ( Minnesota News Network) - Target will pay nearly $4 million to settle a Northern California lawsuit that claims prices paid at checkout were higher than those advertised.

The suit also claims that the company failed to make sure that the price scanners at checkout were accurate. A Target spokesman says some of the store's promotional signs weren't removed immediately after a promotion ended and that and other problems have now been addressed.

Target will also increase the number and frequency of audits for price accuracy in California and more thoroughly train employees.
