On Thursday, January 12th, local speakers from all walks of life stood on stage at the Bleu Duck Kitchen to pitch their engaging and innovative ideas that they felt were worth spreading. The goal of pitch night? The two speakers with the most votes from the audience would secure a spot on the big stage on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Autumn Ridge Church, Rochester, Mn. I emceed the event and it was incredible to hear the ideas pitched. Over 100 people attended in person, over 400 people watched it live online via Facebook --- making 500 people a part of something really great.

As plans gear up for the big event, speakers continue to be vetted. Have no idea what a TEDx event is?

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.
