Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Rochester police were called to a mobile home park in southeast Rochester Wednesday afternoon to investigate a stabbing.

Capt. John Sherwin says a 14-year-old boy suffered a slash wound on one of his hands that required stitches. Investigators were told the teenager was attacked by a 20-year-old man who was upset about the way the juvenile was looking at him.

Sherwin says the man, identified as Rene Lopez, was driving through the Oak Terrace Estates Mobile Home park off Marion Road Southeast with an acquaintance when the other man asked him to stop so he could speak with a group of people. A short time later, witnesses reported that Lopez jumped out of the car and confronted the 14-year-old before he grabbed a sharp chisel and slashed the teenager’s hand. Sherwin says Lopez then grabbed a large knife and began chasing the other people at the scene before he left in his car.

Police later located Lopez at a residence in the 1500 block of 24th Avenue Southeast and arrested him on second-degree assault and other charges.
