I got ate up by mosquitoes earlier this week, which is normally not a big deal, but these weren't your average mosquitoes! I have giant bites all over my body and they itch like crazy.

Yesterday morning, I asked listeners for their secrets on how to relieve the itch, and a lot of people called to share their remedies. We got several calls suggesting a thick paste made of baking soda and water, one woman suggested rubbing a lemon directly on the bite or applying minced garlic to the bite, and another suggested meat tenderizer.

I had most of the stuff that was suggested at home so I decided to put them to the test.

I couldn't find any meat tenderizer lying around so I skipped that one, but I did try the other methods.

The one that proved the most effective was the baking soda paste, the itching stopped within seconds. The lemon worked for a short time but the itch returned after several minutes. And the garlic did absolutely nothing, other than make my wife laugh at how stupid I looked.

So based on the number of suggestions we got and my completely unscientific study, I recommend battling bites with baking soda.
