The 7th annual Boys & Girls Club of Rochester's Chili Challenge is this Thursday from 4p-8p at the Peace Plaza in downtown Rochester.Enjoy 25 delicious chilies and vote for your favorite! According to the event's website, chilies will be judged by a panel of judges in these categories:

  • The Real Deal- any kind of meat or combination of meats, cooked with chili peppers, various other spices, and other ingredients with the exception of items such as beans or spaghetti, which are strictly forbidden.
  • Anything Goes- the name says it all
  •  Vegetarian- this is a chili made without any meat products

The following categories will be judged by the public:

  • Peoples’ Choice- people attending the Chili Challenge will vote on their favorite chili
  • Spicy Spirit- people attending the Chili Challenge will vote on their favorite decorated booth and enthusiastic team
  • Kids’ Choice- kids attending the Chili Challenge will vote on their favorite chili

New this year is the Homebrew Competition, featuring beer brewed by 20 of Rochester's own beer enthusiasts. The Homebrew Competition will be judged in two different categories - Brewer’s Choice ( made up of a panel of four professional brewers) and People’s Choice (voted on by event attendees).

In addition to the chili and beer there will be fun activities for the whole family, live music from Luke 'n Bob, Texas, Sterling Haukom, and much more!
