Each year, a panel of experts induct a few toys in to the Toy Hall of Fame. (How do you get that job?) There were 12 finalists this year including the spinning top, coloring books, the Wiffle Ball, American Girl dolls, Battleship, Jenga, PLAYMOBIL, scooters, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Those toys will have to wait another year, however, because they weren't selected. This year's Hall of Fame class includes the hand puppet, the Super Soaker, and the game Twister.

The game Twister almost never got off of the ground. Sears Roebuck said it was too racy to feature in its 1966 catalog, so Milton Bradley canceled its production. But Johnny Carson had a game and played it on the "Tonight Show" which sent sales through the roof. More than 3 million copies were sold the following year.

The Super Soaker was super popular when I was a child. Over 27 million of the $10 water guns were sold in its first three years of production.

What do you think of their selections to the Toy Hall of Fame? Which of the toys nominated but not selected would you like to see in the Hall?
