Sure, all those sub-zero temperatures aren't that fun. And having to drive through snow and ice isn't fun, either. But here's one of the most annoying things about winter in Minnesota.

For me, one of the most annoying things about winter here in the Land of 10,000 (frozen) Lakes is all that salt that builds up on your vehicle, which then ends up on your clothes if you dare to brush against it.

I'm talking specifically about the bottom of the driver's side door. I'm CONSTANTLY brushing the back of my calf on that part of the car as I get in and out of my vehicle. Which, of course, then results in a lovely, salty white stain on the back of my pants or jeans. (Check out that picture-- you can see right where my leg has rubbed all the salt off the car door.)

Now, keep in mind we have three cats at our house who regularly deposit all sorts of hair on my clothes, so I'm not suggesting my attire is always perfectly pressed, ironed or even hair-free.

But nobody likes that whitish stain on their clothes, do they? Heck, the same thing happens if you brush against the side of the car while you're walking through a parking ramp downtown while wearing your big winter coat, too. Nice, isn't it? Thankfully, it's a dry stain and you can usually get rid of it by taking a damp cloth to the affected area. But, still.

And, yes, I realize this problem would be minimized if I ran my SUV through the car wash more often. Wait, there's ANOTHER annoying thing about winter in Minnesota. Sheesh. I can't win!
