There are so many construction projects going on around Rochester that it's hard to even try to keep up with them all. But one of them really stood out this week as an entire street corner literally disappeared in just a couple days.

The southeast corner of the intersection of Fourth Street Southeast and Third Avenue Southeast, diagonal from the government center and formerly home to businesses including Buckeye Liquor and Flowers by Jerry, has undergone a major transformation in just the last few days. For several weeks, equipment sat dormant between the two buildings, but this week those machines came to life and, as this photo gallery shows, they changed the landscape of that corner forever.

Once demolition has been completed, work will begin on a new six-story building that will consist of a 2,000-square-foot first floor of retail space, 92 apartment units and underground parking.

So, while the corner has definitely changed significantly in the last few days, it's only the beginning of a much larger transformation...
