Some updated statistics from the National Weather Service show this winter is on track to be the coldest in the Rochester area in three decades. The average temperature from December 1st through Sunday was 8.9-degrees, which puts this winter 11th on a list of the coldest winters through February 9th. The winters of 1981-82 and 1983-84 are next on the list with average temperatures were 8.7-degrees. The coldest average temperature for the same time period was only 4-degrees from the winters of 1978-79 and 1886-87. This winter is also ranked eighth for the number of days with sub-zero cold through February 10th at 40.
