Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Two people were seriously injured in a nearly head-on crash south of Rochester Monday evening.

The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Department says the collision occurred around 5:45 PM on County Road 1 near the intersection with 75th Street Southeast. When they were transported to St. Mary’s Hospital, both drivers were said to be suffering from critical injuries. As of Tuesday afternoon, 32-year-old Nicholas Hansen was listed in serious condition and 51-year-old Patricia Wagner was listed in fair condition.

The State Patrol says a Rochester man was struck by a pickup Tuesday morning in Stewartville. The Patrol reported 44-year-old Gregory Soukup was walking north along the southbound lanes of Highway 63 when he was hit by a vehicle driven by a Spring Valley man around 7:15 a.m. The State Patrol reported 53-year-old Steven Volkart both braked and swerved after the driver of the vehicle in front of him hit the brakes because of the pedestrian.

Officials reported Soukup was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, but the hospital has no record of him being treated.
