Three people suffered serious injuries in a head-on crash south of Plainview late Monday afternoon.

Reports indicate the traffic wreck occurred around 5:30 p.m. when two pickup trucks collided on a curve along a rural road. One of the pickups, which was towing a car, flipped over and caught fire. Another motorist stopped and was able to extinguish the flames before emergency responders arrived at the scene.

Two of the crash victims were airlifted to St. Mary's Hospital, while the third was transported by ambulance.  Their names and conditions have not been released.
