Tim Hortons is the most popular coffee and doughnut chain in Canada and will soon expand to Minnesota.

According to bizjournals.com, There are 4,600 Tim Hortons worldwide and 869 in the U.S.

It's not clear if the company is looking at Rochester, but Tim Hortons' parent company, Restaurant Brands International Inc., said it signed a deal with  Restaurant Development Partners Corp. to expand throughout the state. The company is looking for "local entrepreneurs to develop restaurants."

It will be interesting to see how aggressive they will be. Rival Dunkin' Donuts also announced plans to expand and the coffee market is already saturated with Caribou and Starbucks' locations all throughout the state.

The chain is named after its owner. Tim Horton was an NHL player for over 20 years.
