65% of Americans will barbecue this Fourth of July weekend. Follow these tips to be the ultimate grill master.

1) A little fat is a good thing. For a flavorful burger go with an 80-20 blend. If you're worried about calories skip the cheese, or better yet skip the BBQ, you buzzkill!

2) Speaking of cheese... American and cheddar are great, but don't be afraid to try something new. Spice it up with pepper-jack or try smoked gouda for a delicious burger.

3) Don't rough up your meat. The most common mistake people make happens before the meat even hits the grill. When mixing your seasoning in and rolling patties, be gentle. Being too rough can actually lead to a tough burger.

4) Once your patties are formed use your thumb to make a divot in the center. This will help it hold its form through the cooking process.

5) Know when to flip. Oil your grilling surface before putting the meat down. If the meat sticks when you go to flip it, leave it. It will come up easy when it's ready to flip.

6) Bonus tip: Check your propane tank right now. Running out of gas half way through grilling really sucks. Trust me, I know from experience.

Hopefully these tips help you rock the grill this weekend.  Happy Fourth of July from everyone here at KROC!
