Albert Lea, MN (KROC AM News) - Two suspects were arrested Monday night after leading police on a high speed chase that began in downtown Albert Lea.

An Albert Lea officer spotted a full size pickup truck without its lights on in the downtown around 10 p.m. and tried to stop the vehicle. The driver took off at a high rate of speed. As it sped out of town, the officer clocked the truck at 60-90 mph. It then sped up to 105 mph before slowing as it entered a farm field.

The driver then went back into Albert Lea and ended up on a dead end street. The truck left the road, went through another farm field before getting stuck in a wooded area.

The driver and a passenger fled on foot but were caught a short while later. They have been identified as 19-year-old Sam Thompson of Austin - who police say was the driver - and 21-year-old Joseph Waltz of Albert Lea.
