Rochester, MN  (KROC-AM News) - Two major road projects in the Rochester area are scheduled to get underway on Monday.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation says motorists will encounter lane closures during the day and some short- term ramp closures as crews begin work on repaving a six-mile section of Highway 63 in south Rochester from 28th Street south to Highway 30.

MNDOT is indicating that two lanes of northbound traffic will be maintained from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m., while there will be two lanes available for southbound traffic from 3 to 6 p.m. in an effort to minimize traffic delays.

The $4.1 million project is scheduled to be completed in early July.

Work is also scheduled to begin Monday on a project that will produce a significant detour in the Eyota area.

The State Transportation Department will be constructing a roundabout intersection at Highway 14 and Highway 42 at a cost of about $2.7 million. The work is also expected to be completed in early July.

Highway 42 north of Eyota is closing on Monday and will remain closed until the project is finished, while Highway 14 will be shutdown on May 11th. Traffic will be detoured onto Olmsted County Roads 11, 9 and 7 (see above map).
