In it's first day online, the video was viewed more than 200,000 times, shared over 2,500 times, and 'liked' over 2,000 times.

The Ames Police Department and Iowa State University Police shared the spoof video on Monday. On their Facebook page the Ames Police said it's more than a funny video, "We all need to do our best to actually respect each other. We can't serve our community without a strong connection with the people in it. And we can't have a strong community without respect."

Eric Snyder, Community Resource Manager for the Ames PD, told the Des Moines Register: "We're really trying to spread a message that makes our community better."

Response to the video has been overwhelmingly positive. How could you not like it? It's funny and has a great message! Props to the APD!
