Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A man wanted by authorities in Illinois was captured by Rochester police over the weekend - but not before injuring two officers.

The man - identified as 25-year-old Anthony Harris of Chicago - was wanted on a warrant after he cut off an ankle bracelet and fled. Rochester police say his criminal background includes involvement in a homicide, robbery, and assault and he was described as armed and dangerous.

Rochester police learned he was at a house at 1024 3rd Ave SE and put it under surveillance. An officer saw Harris in a car that was getting ready to leave Saturday afternoon and called for backup. Two officers ordered Harris out of the car. He immediately began fighting with the officers and the three ended up on the ground on 3rd avenue. A taser was used to subdue Harris and he was taken into custody. The officers were treated for their injuries, which included cuts and bruises to the head. One also had some fingernails ripped off during the struggle that lasted several minutes.
