There's a website that will tell you exactly what everyone's going to be wearing so you won't get caught wearing the same thing.

Still clueless as to what you're going to wear for your Halloween costume this year? We've got just the thing to help you out.

There's a really cool website called Google Trends’ Frightgeist which shows what Halloween costumes are trending nationally and even locally. It also offers costume suggestions based on what you’re looking for.

This year, the Top 5 hottest costumes in the U.S. are:

  1. Harley Quinn
  2. The Joker
  3. Superheroes
  4. Pirates
  5. Wonder Woman

OK, so 4 of the top 5 are of the comic book/superhero variety... Odds are you either did that already, or that's not exactly your thing, so I went ahead and searched the site on what's trending around Rochester and I found these:

  1. Witch
  2. Pikachu
  3. Harley Quinn
  4. Unicorn
  5. Monsters, Inc.

Alright, I'm starting to see a pattern here. But in case you'd rather not be the fourth Harley Quinn entered into the costume contest at the bar or party you're at next weekend, the website also has a “costume wizard” function that serves as a costume generator of sorts.

After you tweak a few of their settings like the spookiness, uniqueness, style and trending levels, click submit and the website will do the rest... and voilà, you've got your costume this year!

After a few adjustments, I got Rick Grimes from the Walking Dead. Not bad, considering everyone's talking about that show right now after the gory season 7 premiere last night.
