Growing up is not fun. Here's why.

The quarter ends today. Kids are off school tomorrow. There's a week and of half of killin' time hard learnin' before Thanksgiving, another month of killin' time hard learnin' (it's all about the hard learnin', people!) before Winter Break for Christmas, Hanukkah, Festivus, The Force Awakens (Awww, yeah!) and New Years'. Two of my kids are Freshmen. I remember Freshmen orientation. They said, "before you know it, these four years will just fly right by!" I laughed. The next day was four years later, and I was graduating. I wasn't laughing anymore.

Growing up sucks.

Steelcloset.com has put together seven things about growing up that are really not fun. Avoid these things at all cost, as it drains your kul-ness factor.

Planned outings - Say goodbye to Mr. Spontaneity! My kids don't plan anything - I never planned anything. Adults have maps and diagrams; troop positions, scouting, recon tactics. An adult tends to develop a battle tactical contingency plan for things like weddings, anniversaries, showers, birthdays, dates, school activities - pretty much the stuff the kids don't plan.

Awkward Small Talk - Y'ever notice how much of a talker you really weren't in school? That was pretty much called "shy". I was never a big talker at fourteen. Sports, homework and girls. That pretty much expands to things like traffic, weather, the economy and real estate as you get older. Because most people tend to stay away from hot topics like politics and Styrofoam cups.

Life Decisions - Alert! Alert! Danger! Danger! Once Mr. Spontaneity is long gone, you're trying to figure out careers, insurance, mortgages, school for the kids, retirement - like, which kid's life you want to make miserable brighten in your golden years. There's very little PlayStation 4 then, my friend...as some of us find out!

I'll be over here with the kids playing popcorn on the trampoline if you need me...
