Yelp’s 8 Best Breakfast Spots in Rochester

This small coffee house chain, based in the Twin Cities, offers some great coffee in the area. Evidently, people also like the breakfast options - at least at the Elton Hills Drive location.I've had their coffee and some of their baked goods, but I haven't tried their full breakfast items there.

Located in downtown Rochester, the restaurant's name is just downright fun to say! "Pannekoeken!" Great breakfast menu there, with one Yelp reviewer commenting, "The Pannekoeken (first time I'd had one) was fun and I felt like I was eating dessert for breakfast. They actually sing [when] they bring it to you."

An old-fashioned breakfast place, Grandma's Kitchen is a favorite with our family. One Yelp reviewer said, "We ate breakfast and it was good, the staff was friendly and the coffee just kept on coming. Yummy hash browns and a delicious home cooked omelet."

Although a relative new-comer to the Rochester restaurant scene, Five West has already struck a chord with Yelp reviewers. It seems to be one of THE places to go for brunch, with one Yelp reviewer saying, "I LOVE their brunch menu. My favorites are the S'more Waffle and the Corn Beef Hash." Another added, "This place is EXCELLENT! Their breakfast is the best in town."

Located near St. Mary's Hospital on 2nd St. Southwest, the Canadian Honker has long been considered a pillar of the restaurant community. In terms of their breakfasts, their omelets, Eggs Benedict (including one with smoked salmon), and their hash browns were Yelp reviewers' favorites.

Tonic calls itself a "local kitchen and juice bar" and it has garnered numerous awards for its healthy and vegetarian meals. One Yelp reviewer raved about their buffalo mash, which he says was "served in a sizzle platter with toast." Many of the reviewers were ultra pleased with their fresh-squeezed juices.

Another restaurant located right across from St. Mary's Hospital, Cafe Presto offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. One Yelp reviewer said this about Cafe Preston: "The food here is simple and tasty, the atmosphere is cozy, and the prices are great! Also, the staff is very friendly and considerate. This is a lovely little place!"

A favorite among locals, Cheap Charlie's is tucked away halfway down a side street just off North Broadway. A true 'greasy spoon,' Cheap Charlie's offers large portions of breakfast classics. No frills, just food! As one Yelp reviewer commented, "This dive is a MUST if you are in Rochester! The breakfast is outstanding. The portions are enough to leave you bloated walking out the door."
