Austin, MN (KROC-AM News) - The investigation is still open, but the Mower County Sheriff’s Department says it appears a young boy from the Albert Lea area who died at a rural property near Lyle last weekend was the victim of an accidental drowning.

A spokesman says the 6-year-old rural Hartland boy was attending a family gathering when he apparently fell into an unused swimming pool. Emergency responders were called to the property shortly after 9 o’clock Saturday night.

The Mower County Sheriff’s Department did not release the name of the young victim, but media reports and an obituary posted by the Bonnerup Funeral Home in Albert Lea identified him as Finn Kristofer Ellsworth. A funeral will take place on Friday in Albert Lea.
