A couple judges from the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit issued a ruling this week that will affect everyone from whistleblowers to your ex who is still, somehow, using your Netflix password to catch up on "House of Cards" or have a "Grace & Frankie" marathon.

While we don't expect you scroll through all 67 pages of the document provided, but basically the court ruled that sharing passwords is a criminal act... R'uh r'oh!

One judge expressed concern that the decision by the majority criminalizes all password-sharing, including you giving out your parent’s Netflix password to your friends.

After all, in their terms of service, Netflix and especially HBO Go say only subscribers should be streaming their content.

HBO Go and Netflix are unlikely to go after their customers for being too generous with their passwords... at least not in the near future.
