Zumbrota, MN (KROC-AM News) - Highway 52 in the Zumbrota area was especially dangerous on Friday.

The State Patrol responded to four traffic crashes, starting with a rollover crash that killed 32-year-old Mower County woman put a 27-year-old Rochester man in the Goodhue County jail, suspected of impaired driving. According to the State Patrol, the victim of the crash, Cassandra Sims of Sergeant, was not wearing a seatbelt and ejected during the crash.

About a hour and a half later, a semi-truck crash slowed northbound traffic in an area south of Zumbrota. The State Patrol report says 51-year-old Michael Winkels of Stewartville was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital after his truck crashed into the ditch and rolled.

The two other crashes affected the afternoon commute. The State Patrol says 21-year-old Aiyan Saleh Mohamed of Minneapolis was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital after the car she was in collided with a southbound semi-truck just north of Zumbrota and rolled around 3:15 p.m. The drivers of both vehicles were not hurt.

The fourth crash of the day was reported at 4:20 p.m. and put a Wanamingo teenager in the hospital. 18-year-old Quinn Nelson was driving one of three vehicles that collided in the northbound lanes of Highway 52 south of Zumbrota. The four occupants of the two other vehicles were not.

The State Patrol says all of the crash victims taken to St. Mary’s had non-life threatening injuries.
