4 Places to Devour a Burger for National Juicy Lucy Day in Rochester
The Juicy Lucy (or Jucy, depending on where you order it) is known as a Minnesota born creation. It's a burger style unique to the Gopher state, and one that I've loved ever since I had my first one almost 13 years ago in Rochester (more on that later).
If you have no idea what I'm talking about, let me first inform you that you're truly missing out. The burger involves combining two thin patties around a ball of American or cheddar cheese. You then press all three together and seal the corners, so that when the burger is cooked, the cheese inside gets melty and super gooey so when you take your first bite it's ready to explode into your mouth!
However, I can still remember the first one I had at Newts when I first moved to town back in 2005. A girl I was seeing at the time suggested I try one, and after it was dropped off at our table I remember the server looking me dead in the eye saying, "You might want to wait a minute or two... or else you'll get burned." It was a warning I definitely heeded and could see why after I cut it in half to begin my meal. The cheese almost spouted out like a volcano and oozed all over the plate. But once I took my first bite, I was hooked forever!

Crooked Pint Ale House
Outside of Matt's Bar or the 5-8 Club in Minneapolis, this is the closest place we've got around here that's actually known for serving up Jucy's. I've had several there, including their beer cheese Lucy, and haven't been disappointed yet. You can read their full list of Jucy's on their menu... Oh, plus there's this:

Newts
This was the first juicy I ever had, and it's still one of my favorites. Good thing there's three locations around Rochester, so there's plenty of love to go around.

Chester's Kitchen and Bar
Chester's does it their own unique way, by serving up a Juicy Linus. It's stuffed with sharp cheddar, caramelized onions, and American cheese. Perfecto!

Dooleys Pub
Beware of molten hot cheese! Dooley's signature Juicy has ghost pepper infused, Cajun-seared burger with jalapeño and Applewood bacon all on a toasted bun. Served with chipotle aioli. This is definitely not for rookies.
