Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -  An alert Rochester man helped authorities catch a suspected car thief.

The man spotted a Jeep pull into his driveway around 7:30 PM Wednesday. The homeowner became suspicious when he saw a strange man get out of the Jeep.

The man walked to a car parked in the driveway and began removing the license plates. The homeowner went out and confronted the man, who put the plates back onto the vehicle and drove away.

The homeowner decided to report the incident to police and a patrol officer spotted the Jeep a short while later. The officer determined the Jeep had been stolen from Preston the night before and arrested the man, who was identified as 24-year-old Drew Davis of Rochester.
