
Allen Media Selling Off Stations in Rochester, Madison, Waterloo & More
Allen Media owns 28 local TV stations across the country, with locations in Alabama, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Oregon, Washington, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Minnesota.
The company, which made headlines in January when it announced plans to replace local meteorologists with a centralized team from The Weather Channel in Atlanta, is back in the news because all of its stations are up for sale.

What is Allen Media?
Allen Media Group was founded in 1993 by former TV host and stand-up comedian Byron Allen. The company began by producing and syndicating television shows. In the late 2010s, Allen moved into film distribution, acquired The Weather Channel, and started purchasing television stations.

A news release published by CNBC said the company spent more than $1 billion to acquire the stations over the past six years and "after receiving numerous inquiries and written offers for most of the stations, has decided to explore a sale."
I really hope the new owner prioritizes local news, weather, and sports. I watch KIMT from time to time, and I think Jessica Bringe (anchor) and Sara Knox (meteorologist) are great at covering the topics that matter in our area.
