Almost 370 Missed 911 Calls During Weekend Outage in SE MN

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The telecom that provides 911 emergency service in southeastern Minnesota is reporting there were nearly 370 missed calls to 911 during an over three-hour-long service outage Sunday night.

A news release from the Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office says CenturyLink believes the problem was due to a disruption involving a 911 router in Rochester but the cause of the disruption has not been identified. The outage began just before 9 PM Sunday and ended around 1 AM Monday. It impacted nine counties in southeastern Minnesota, including Olmsted and most of its neighboring counties.

CenturyLink is in the fourth year of a $29.5 million five year contract to provide 911 services to just over 100 Minnesota dispatch centers. Statewide, those dispatch centers typically receive about 7,800 calls to 911 each day.
