Just last week, we got word that Blank Park Zoo in Des Moines added a couple of critically endangered monkeys named Kida and Eddie. Well, Kida and Eddie aren't the only new residents of the zoo! According to a new Facebook post, Blank Park Zoo has added eight new alpacas!

Tanzie, Maybelle, Amelia, Ariel, Honey, Honey Bee, Ruby and Ginger are eight female alpacas that now call Blank Park Zoo home. They are all part of a new zoo experience called "Alpaca Acres." Zoo-goers will have an opportunity to get "up close and personal" with the herd. The post says that "guests have the option to interact with the alpacas or simply sit and be present with them."

Alpaca Acres isn't open just yet, but guests won't have to wait too much longer! The new zoo feature will officially open to the public on Friday, May 26th. The hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. each day and it costs $ per person. Each additional food cup is $2. Alpaca Acres will run through Labor Day, but keep in mind that it is dependent on the weather.

Speaking of alpacas, there's a farm in Cedar Rapids that also lets you interact with them! Rainbow Feathers Farm is a small farm located at 69 Western College Road and they have 20 alpacas in their herd! They also have a shop where they sell blankets, gloves, hats, socks, and other goods that are made from their alpacas' wool. You can read more about Rainbow Feathers Farm HERE.
