St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Minnesota Lottery today reported record sales for the 2020 fiscal year that ended June 30th.

It was the third straight year the state lottery has set a new sales record. The total for the 12 month period was $668.6 million. The majority of that amount, over $423 million, was sent back to the players in the form of prizes.

$156 million was directed to the State of Minnesota, which has received $3.3 billion in revenues from the Minnesota Lottery since its inception. $1.4 billion has gone to funds dedicated to environmental and conservation programs, while $1.9 billion has been deposited into the state's general fund.

“All Minnesotans benefit from Lottery proceeds, said Lottery Executive Director Adam Prock. “From state services that protect and support Minnesotans to environmental projects that protect our environment and give more Minnesotans the opportunity to connect with nature, Lottery proceeds help make Minnesota an even better place to live.”

The lottery also reported that $44.8 million from the 2020 sales was paid to lottery retailers in the form of commissions and incentives.
