Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man who was kidnapped and had his car stolen nearly two weeks ago is getting his vehicle back and the suspected criminal is behind bars.

The 26-year-old victim called police the night of April 22nd to report the incident.

Police Capt. Casey Moilanen says the victim was confronted by the suspect in the 10 block of 7th Ave SW. The victim said the suspect pointed a gun at him and demanded his wallet, phone, and keys. He then told the victim to get into the passenger seat of his car. The suspect then drove the victim’s car a few blocks and after giving the man his wallet back, told him to get out. A woman standing nearby got in and the suspect drove off with the victim’s car.

Moilanen says the victim’s phone was later found in a ditch and a patrol officer also spotted the victim’s car at a nearby housing complex on May 1st.

The vehicle was put under surveillance and a man, a woman and some children got in Monday and drove off. It was followed to the Crossroads Shopping Center and the driver was arrested. He was identified as 19-year-old Chauncey Williams of Rochester. He is facing possible charges of robbery kidnapping, theft and driving without a valid license.
